Werner & Mertz Service & Logistik GmbH Relaunches Enterprise Portal

Werner & Mertz Service & Logistik GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of the traditional, family-run Werner & Mertz GmbH, with locations in Mainz, Germany and Hallein, Austria. The "Frosch", "Erdal" and "tuba" brands are recognized throughout Europe and in many countries abroad as well. BTEXX developed an extranet-based application portal for the logistics company's forwarding partners. The portal replaces the paper-based delivery notice query process with a modern portal solution.

The application portal was implemented on the basis of the SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0 platform. The “btexx easyWCM” and “btexx documentManager” software solutions enhance SAP NW Portal functionality in the areas of Web Content Management and Document Management. “btexx easyWCM” is the leading Content Management System for enterprise portals with SAP and ensures simple editorial work as part of the maintenance process. “btexx documentManager” provides an intuitive interface and extended features for Knowledge Management (KM) in the SAP Portal.

The introduction of the SAP NetWeaver Portal enabled the company to realign its strategic objectives. The new system offers a secure platform for internal and external workflows and streamlines the delivery notice query process. In addition, plans are underway to implement Employee Self Services (ESS), which employees will be able to use in the future to access all of the information, tools and services they need to successfully complete their daily tasks. This includes tracking travel expenses, working hours and vacation time, allowing employees to work flexibly and productively at all times.
